Syn‐ to post‐rift alluvial basin fill: Seismic stratigraphic analysis of Permian‐Triassic deposition in the Horda Platform, Norway

The Permian-Triassic alluvial rift succession in the Horda Platform area is analysed to construct a refined depositional model. study demonstrates how subsurface continental successions may be stratigraphically subdivided and correlated by integrating seismic well-log data concert with conceptual models. Regional unconformities mark top base of succession, which sub-divided into six stratigraphic sequences, delineated erosional- non-depositional surfaces. definition sequences based on facies trends Gamma Ray log signatures. Time-thickness maps combined geometries cross-section display depocentre development. During Permian-Triassic, experienced faulting, shaping Caledonian pre-rift landscape series N–S trending half-graben basins, contemporaneous gradual climate change from arid Permian humid latest Triassic. basin underwent three phases rifting during Late Permian-Middle Triassic: (1) disconnected heterogeneous depocentres strain concentrated west; (2) expanded northward; (3) mature half graben development widely distributed strain. Vertical lithological changes mudstone/sandstone dominance reflect varying rates accommodation sediment supply (A/S). Systematic A/S variation reflects strong climatic fluctuations, controlled patterns both tectonic quiescence Middle-Late Triassic, syn-rift sedimentation. tectono-sedimentary provides valuable lessons influence faulting development, interplay between forcing expressed deposits, aid characterisation reservoirs.
